hi thanks for this was getting kinda frustrated by the random lockups i was having.
kinda strange but it wouldnt work for me until i took battery out then it updated fine and im now on the new firmware

This method do not work. I tried it on two pcs but the DOS Window do not want to update my Arena.

The drivers provided in the cd (browse CD) or from LG's official website given. There are 2 USB driver installations in there and a flash driver (by Infineon).
Make sure the add/remove programs list shows:
    LG MC USB Modem Driver
    LG USB Modem driver
    LG GSM Device Driver (mine hasn't anyway but still work)
I did my update without having to remove my battery, only my SIM card and Micro SD.

But if you update the phone software via the guides provided in LG's website it will tell you to remove the battery.
The update will take place on switch off mode ( USB connected onto the computer ).
Somehow this method wasn't a success for me.

Hey guys..

I finally updated my firmware successfully.. And nope.. it wasn't as simple as i thought it'd be..
Well.. after some struggling with the exact same problem as above...these steps i did finally worked:

1) Download the .cab file from->>You are not allowed to view links.
Register or Login
    and paste it directly in c:\

2) Follow steps 1->19

3) At step 20 I extracted the CONTENT of LG-Utils.zip file directly to c:\ without having to pass through c:\LG-Utils

4) Then continue with step 21->23

5) At step 24 copy and paste the respected .dll files directly to c:\ also.

6) Finally follow exactly all the remaining steps.

Make sure you download the right firmware update file according to region and mobile provider or an OPEN firmware from the list given.
Also make sure ALL of the USB drivers are installed.

Just another note...I did use the .cab instead of the .kdz file
